Raised in Ventura, California, Dan graduated from Buena High School in 1983 as ASB President. From 1983 – 1987, he attended Middlebury College, Vermont, in large part because he wanted to live in a small college New England town … as well as capitalize on the opportunity to play collegiate level soccer on the most beautiful fields imaginable.
Dan studied at the University of Kent, Canterbury, England in 1985 – 1986, as well as Oxford University, Lincoln College at the Breadloaf School of English. While there, he felt fortunate to study literature under Dr. Douglas Gray, J.R.R. Tolkien Professor of English. After Dan graduated cum laude from Middlebury College in 1987, he lived again in Europe, where he perfected the art of making friends, waiting tables, and getting around from Helsinki to Paris, and London to Tangier. As cool as that sounds today, it was even better in reality! After his travels, he entered into Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where he competed successfully on the Scott Moot Court appellate advocacy team, and earned his Juris Doctorate in 1992. Dan practiced law full time from 1992 – 1995, and then co-founded a multi-state mortgage company, closing millions of dollars in transactions over a 10 year period. During that time, Dan was also a general partner and owner of a sports management company, where he represented Major League Baseball and NFL players. Also during that time, Dan also co-hosted an Aritron-rated live call in radio show. Dan serves on the Board of Directors at Temple Ner Ami, Camarillo, CA, where he lives with his wife and four children. On the weekends, he loves to read, listen to music, hike, and play soccer.
